Silversmith:Designer/Maker
Inspired by the movement of plants during growth, each design holds it's own character and includes simple automated elements, which encourages the diner to 'play'. Each piece moves along a silver and resin track on its own set of miniature wheels. The quirky table train can hold a variety of condiments including salt, pepper, oil, sauces, sugar and cream.
"We were always told as children not to play with the condiments, I am saying 'please do'. Because each condiment holds its own personality, I would hope that this would engage the attention and conversation of those who have much to say at the dinner table and those that do not! The movement of plant during growth is emulated throughout my work with the aid of simple automata.
I often add a proverb sometimes relating to the contents of the vessel, hopefully engaging the user in thought. I am also interested in looking at unique ways of seasoning the food and the way that it arrives to the plate, once again the interaction between the user and the piece playing a huge part in my work
